The Woods Avenue Animal Clinic Staff

Dr. Gower has been licensed since 1983 in the veterinary field. After having worked at his clinic in Brooklyn for the past 20 years, he is pleased to return to Oceanside, the town where he graduated from high school, and open the Woods Avenue Animal Clinic. Dr. Gower is actively involved in continuing education on local, national web conferences and maintains deep professional commitment to ongoing research and education of small animal diseases.  He and his wife, Valerie, love spending time with their six children who are an enormous part of their lives and an ongoing source of joy!

Dr. Morris has been a veterinarian since 1970. He owned his own Veterinary Hospital for 27 years on Long Island and worked for other veterinarians before he owned his own hospital. He loves surgery and medicine. He is interested in history, astronomy, and math. He has 2 grown children and 2 grandchildren.

Dr. Su graduated from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She practiced in California until she moved to Long Island in 2000. She has special interest in surgery and dermatology. She is devoted in taking care of her patients, raising her two young children, and keeping herself up to date on the current trends and advances of veterinary medicine.

Jon has been an employee at the Woods Avenue Animal Clinic for three years and is our Office Manager. He currently attends Nassau Community College where he is studying in the field of criminal justice. He hopes to become an ASPCA Officer. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of the clinic and is very handy. When he is not at the clinic, he enjoys exercising and playing with his cat Gino.

Tara joined the Woods Avenue Animal Clinic staff in August 2008 and is our Assistant Office Manager. She graduated from SUNY Old Westbury in May 2009, where she received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Elementary Education. She hopes to go on to graduate school to get her masters degree. She takes a lot of pride in her education and was a member of the Teacher Education Club, the Honor Society, and the International English Honor Society (Sigma Tau Delta). Gizmo, her Miniature Poodle, is very unpredictable when it comes to his behavior. Sometimes he is playful, and sometimes he is very mischievous. Stewie, her cat, is king of the house. He loves to play peek-a-boo, and always gives kisses. Rufio, her little kitten loves to snuggle and sleep in the sunshine. She loves themdearly. She loves to spend time with her husband, friends and family and her days off.

Margaret is our friendly receptionist who knows how to make all of our clients feels welcomed. She is great with all the clients and patients that walk through our door. On her days off she enjoys spending time with her family and her 2 dogs.

Steve has been part of our team for over a year and a half. Steve helps with all aspects of the clinic, from inventory, purchasing, organizing and any general project he is asked to help with.  He is a retired Police Officer and has been helping us out here at the clinic because he has such a love for animals and enjoys being around people.

Stacey joined the Woods Avenue Animal Clinic Staff in March, 2007 as a part-time employee. Stacey is our staff in charge on Saturdays and greatly adds to our team support giving our office a seasoned receptionist for often busy days and at the same time allows our full time weekday staff to recover for a weekend of rest. She brings with her 5 years of prior part-time work experience at an animal hospital in Queens .  She volunteers for the Valley Stream Cat Rescue, cleaning cages and caring for cats one evening per week at the Petco near her home.  Stacey currently works full-time for a major bank and possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantitative Analysis from St. John's University.  However, Stacey aspires to work full-time in the animal kingdom some day.  She has taken some Veterinary Technology courses on-line with Cedar Valley College and reads as much about animals as possible. Stacey has 2 dachshunds (Rocky and Mickey) and two cats (Ms. Kittee and Omolene) who she loves more than life itself.

Michael is a very busy young man who has been working here at the clinic for almost a year now. He is currently going to Oceanside high school and is attending a Boces program a few mornings a week before school to help him achieve his dream of becoming a Veterinary Technician. Michael works here one day a week to get his hands on experience for the future. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his dog Annie.

Bryan has been working at the clinic for over a year now and is a huge helping hand. Recently Bryan was promoted to a managing position at a pet store that he has been working at for some time now so unfortunately we only have him here part time. Bryan is looking to pursue his career in animal care and is hoping to one day be a care taker or perhaps a Veterinarian Technician. On his free time he enjoys spending it with his dog and his numerous different reptiles.

Gina has only been with us a short time but has already become part of our family. She loves to play with the animals when they walk in the door. She is currently enrolled at Nassau Community College. She would like to obtain a degree in education. She has a gorgeous little boy named Caden who is 10 months old. On her days off she likes to play with Caden at the park.

Kyle is new addition to our staff at the Woods Avenue Animal clinic. He quickly learned the ins and outs of the clinic and has significantly helped the morning staff. He has three cats; their names are Ozzy, Duffy, and Molly. On his days off he enjoys writing music.
